I meet Um Abdallah at the stable for feeding time...I see her on her plastic little slippers, in her pj's and her dusty abaya (black dress) inside out and tucked in her pj's carrying food for the goats, chicken, doves and dog. I carry on with feeding the horses. I get some loud greetings (Loud = good! smile emoticon and an invite to join her for tea at her daughters house. Together we walk in my dirty horse pants and boots...and Um Abdallah....all flashy in her abaya with pink strass in flower decoration...chatting with neighbors who pass us and introducing me proudly as her friend. I am suddenly quite conscious of my dirty trousers next to her glittery outfit (just reversing a dress is all you need...walla I like her style). Anyhow, we continue and pass houses where good smells come from the kitchen...after being outdoors all day, I would not mind a good Maglooba I mention. Um Abdallah smiles. We get home, welcomed by her cute little grandson with the biggest eyes I have seen so far, play around while some Bollywood is on tv. I tell them about the Maglooba and that next time I will bring chicken so they can teach me how to make it. Ahlan wa sahlan....then before the tea is even ready...I am being served with a huge plate of.....Maglooba.....Um Abdallah just beaming in her strassy dress.
